I love getting mail.
I think its because as a child if you get mail, its always so exciting. You never get it and when you do, BAM...birthday cards filled with 5 dollar bills. I still carry around this childhood excitement when going to the mailbox everyday. I make a big deal about going to the mailbox, I watch and wait for the mailman to come, which is normally ridiculously late. Apparently, in the South, its perfectly acceptable to deliver mail at 4:00 in the afternoon. I sometimes feel like going up to the Postman when he gets here and saying, "Listen, I am kind of a big deal around here so I need my mail at 7:00 am, right when I wake up. Thanks." Then I would toss my hair and march back up to the front door. He would be so impressed at my awesomeness that I would get my mail promptly at 7:00 am, every morning. Unfortunately for me and Lafayette, I am not a big deal so, I don't get to boss my local Postman around. Bummer.Anyway, it was my birthday last week and several people sent me packages, so I waited abnormally anxious for my boxes to arrive. After what seemed like months and months of waiting, eyes transfixed on the mailbox, my boxes arrived.
Heather, my BFF misses me like peanut butter misses jelly. My mom sent me a barking birthday card, which Steve chases our dog around with. Susie, the best Step-Mother in Law in the history of Step-Mother in Laws, sent a giant package filled to the brim. My Dad sent me clothes, which were all really cute (Way to go Dad or should I say Tamara?). Along with a ton of birthday cards, with which I could line the Great Wall of China.
Most of them also involved candy, which is about the only solid food my son will willingly eat. His eyes, literally, almost popped out of his head when he saw this giant candy heart, and yes that is purple nail polish on my sons fingers.
What?
I also received this amazingly glamorous feather mask, which I see as appropriate to wear all the time; while running errands, to the park, getting my drivers license ID taken, any occasion really. Thank you Heather, for this quality feather mask, I don't know how I lived all these years without one.
I miss my friends and I miss my family, nothing can replace the memories we have together and every time I get something in the mail from someone I love, its like a little reminder that they haven't forgotten me.
I know I certainly haven't forgotten them.
Cheers.
I do miss you like crazy. I am happy that you got the package, and because I too love to get parcels I will try to send more your way. Although I'm not sure what will beat the blue feather mask, which by the way I am going to get myself the red one. Then we can scare people on both sides of the country. I hope that you have a fab. day. I am heading back to the "lost years" stomping ground for the weekend, sure to be a weekend full of crazy adventures (fingers crossed), since you left my life has been pretty dull. The most adventurous thing I have done since you've been gone is a doughnut in my car and walked all the way to Janet's house.. Whoop whoop, CRAZY TIMES here in WA. Well LOVE you and the baby and the hubby. Talk to you soon.
