We decided to take a little road trip today to wherever the road took us, it lead us to Rayne, LA, which is apparently the frog/mural capital of the world. I know, I know super interesting. There were like, 579 giant murals of frogs all over absolutely everything in this little town. It would have been interesting if say, I had some sort of frog fetish, but unfortunately for the city of Rayne, I don't and neither did anyone in the car. Needless to say, we drove right through and out onto the outskirts, where we did stumble upon something, that in my opinion was the coolest thing I have ever seen through my camera lens.
The Leger Community Cemetery
After we walked around for a bit and I had finally snapped enough photos we decided to pop back in the car and go home.
However, we made a little pit stop at this place
When we pulled up I grabbed my huge camera and got Steve out of his car seat, the place was packed. I took 2 steps when Charlie turned and, "No way, put that camera back in the car! Uggh, I wish we had Louisiana license plates." We bought some Boudin balls, Cracklin and cold Boudin to take home for lunch.
I hadn't had Cracklin or Boudin balls before today so I'm really bitter about not being able to take a picture of them. Cracklin is deep fried pig fat and is a heart attack in a small, bite sized nugget. It was alright, but certainly not good enough for me to eat again. The Boudin balls on the other hand were amazing! Its deep fried rice, various meats and spicy spices basically, its deep fried heaven.
The Boudin we brought home was really good as well. I feel like a Cajun girl already.
Oh yeah, and this happened today too.
Cheers.
I had so much deep fried goodness today! Keep testing the food so I know whats good when I come visit!
