Summers first Halloween was a smash, a super success. She was an adorable lady bug and Steve was Captain America. We purchased the costumes a few weeks before Halloween and Steve wore his costume for 3 weeks straight. By the time Halloween actually rolled around, Steves costume was a little worse for wear.
I bought him the Captain America shield to go with his costume and when we got home from Target, he asked if he could play in the back yard. I said, "Of course, keep that back door open and Ill work on dinner so I can watch you out the window."
It was one of the most hilarious things I have ever witnessed, and being Steves mother, hilarity is a thing repeated daily.
I kept catching flashes out of the corner of my eye, I looked up every time to barely miss what he was doing out there. Finally, I caught a glimpse of Steve.
He was in full costume, with his shield, throwing it back and forth, doing cartwheels and spin jumps.

I started chuckling to myself and went out and asked what he was doing. To which he responded, fully winded, "Im practicing so when Daddy gets home he can shoot me with the new gun that Jamie bought me for my birthday and Ill do this (he spin jumped and threw his shield) to protect myself!"
This kid, he kills me.
Anyway, we went and bought pumpkins, which is always fun and carved them over at Charlies Aunt Cathys house. We were supposed to bring something with apple in it, so I made some Apple Pie Pithiviers, which were delish.
The actual night of Halloween, we typically go to my Moms neighborhood so they can see the kids and my Mom can tag along on the candy hunt.

I had Summer dressed up but stuck her in the Moby wrap as it was freezing out and Steve from door to door until he couldn't run anymore. He got literally 5 pounds of candy, just too much for one little body.

On Halloween and the other big candy holidays, I let Steve eat as much candy as he wants for the next day and then I throw it away. At first he was a little upset with this rule, but he can pack away candy, like a lot. The day after Halloween, he mowed until his tummy was upset and I had to take it away.
All in all, Id say it was an excellent Holiday.
Cheers.
