Happy Birthday Heather!
Heather turned 24 on the 21st and we super celebrated! She requested a banana cake with chocolate frosting and might I say it was the best freaking banana cake Ive ever tasted ever. I put nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves along with maple flavoring. Oh yeah, I'm a genius, for two reasons; the cake was amazing and now if Heather wants amazing birthday cake she has to come down for every birthday. Its a trap!
The night before we went to Randolls and I think all the Cajun food was a little much for the North westerners so we went to the most American place I could think of -
Texas Roadhouse.
We all got ready and no one blow dried their hair because it was at least 126 degrees out and our dates still thought we looked good, which was lovely. Steve even gave Heather a birthday lip kiss, because we Berlin's are lip kissers and damn proud of it. Actually, I'm originally a Barnfather and we Barnfathers are not lip kissers so I'm still getting used to this new way of life.
It was all of our first times at Texas Roadhouse and it was pretty good. We all got steak and I like my meat rare, like pliable rare, so everyone made fun of me. It was glorious in all its raw deliciousness. They also serve giant fishbowls full of liquor, so that was fun. The waiter actually told me I should get a Mother of the Year Award...hmmmm.
Steve was having so much fun with us that he made this face.
After our big Texas meal, we all could barely move.
Then we heard it.
Every cheesey restaurant has one and this ones was especially cheesey.
The Birthday song.
I flashed a look at Heather and Aidan.
Heather looked like she wanted to kill herself and Aidan looked like he was ready to take that risk.
I alerted the waiter that it was our beautiful out of state guests birthday.
Then they brought out a saddle, which none of us expected and our waiter yelled, "I'm gonna turn it on now!"
It didn't actually buck around but it was pretty priceless seeing her face when he said that. Best cheesey birthday song ever!
It was their last night in my new city and I miss them already, terribly. Steve got a new toy and we all got to reminisce and make some new memories with each other. I cried on the way home and stopped in Baton Rouge at the Lush store to make myself feel better, while cooking up schemes of how I can move back home in my head for 3 hours. The reality is I'm here for a while and that will have to be good enough. My door will continue to be revolving and ever open for visitors. I totally have a couch now so I'm ready for new visitors and old ones to come and crash it.
Thank you Heather and Aidan for making this week one of the best since I have been here. We miss you already.
Cheers.

How nice. A couch. Sunshine. Cake. Relaxation. What a nice sounding vacation. I wouldn't know....haha. I am just glad I am not the only one how has fallen victim to your horrible sunblocking skills. Tabasco red pepper sauce. Miss you!
