Grandma Adventures Pt 2

After our exciting day at Jungle Gardens, we decided to introduce her to some more Southern goodness: Boudin and Cracklin. I'm not a huge fan of Cracklin, which is deep fried pig fat, because it tastes like some sort of glorified pork rind, which is disgusting. Susie was also not a fan, once again, because it is disgusting. Every time I hear the word Cracklin, I think of someone at the slaughter house shoveling up leftover ick off the ground and throwing into the deep fryer and deeming it worthy of consumption by labeling it Cracklin. Sick.
Boudin is also weird, and I really am not sure whats in there, various meats and rice and a scant possibility of vegetables wrapped up into a natural sausage casing, is what is says, so Ill go with that. Grandma Susie was also not a fan, that's OK. Weird food parts aren't for the weak stomached.

We also went to the Gulf of Mexico, Cypermont State Park.

Its beautiful and the weather was perfect, Charlie and I took a little nappy while Susie and Steve strolled along the beach.

Grandma Susie also brought out a creative side in Steve and I that I didn't know existed. Doesn't he look amazing with green hair?

He also decided that I should get a little color as well, he put a brown streak in my hair and painted my eye brow, which made its way down to my eye, which was scary.

The whole reason behind the paint was so that we could paint a big box and make a house to play in. It was pretty sweet for about 5 days, then it started to wear and tear...should have bought the warranty.

Steve still felt victorious though after building such an amazing house. Isn't this how you want to feel after a hard days work? That's why this kid is my idol.

We were completely spoiled when Susie was here visiting. She bought us groceries and took us out to eat all the time, Charlie and I haven't been able to do anything together, just the two of us, since arriving in Louisiana and she let us go and see not one but two movies. It was so nice having her here, it was very bittersweet taking her back to the airport; back to reality for us Southern transplants. It makes me homesick knowing that I wont be able to go and drop Steve off to visit at Grandmas house and let myself breathe for once, I'm homesick knowing that I wont see my own family for a very long time and Steve wont see his family either, I'm homesick knowing that I'm not at home. The cold Northwest will always be our home, that's where our hearts lie, in our roots and in our family.

Cheers.
