This state has the largest amount of Safe Speed cameras I have ever seen in my entire life.
They are literally on every corner and intersection in the entire city of Lafayette. When you see a cop car and you are texting and driving or doing other things to make you impaired in some way, dont worry about it. You will not get pulled over. It just wont happen. You know why? Because Safe Speed is there to get your speeding ass. This is Bull. It makes me angry and this is why...
This is Charlie, speeding, for no reason, other than to get to one place three seconds faster than he normally would. I have gotten a ticket at this exact same spot. Its not like were being reckless. I don't see any baby carriages on the street with expectant mothers pushing them or elderly women with boy scouts helping them walk, crossing the damn road at whatever time this was taken. If a police person were sitting in their car and watching Charlie speeding by, he wouldnt have pulled him over because he would have used his better judgement. There is no one out and therefore no one to hurt by driving a little fast, but no. There are these stupid Safe Speed cameras and if you are going a quarter of a mile over the speed limit, then your ass is grass!
The other rediculous thing about these pseudo-police is that the tickets you recieve in the mail are like, 25 dollars. Thats it. Im not going to go and make a big scene out of 25 dollars. Im not going to take time off work, find and pay a sitter and fight this 25 dollar ticket because its too much work for too little pay off. The judge would say, "Well, you were obviously speeding because we have robo-cops in the sky on every corner and at the Safe Speed website there are five pictures and five different angles of you speeding oh and also a short 30 second video of you speeding as well. But we appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to come here and acknowledge that you, did indeed, speed so we will take 10 dollars off. You must now pay 15 dollars."
Then he would smack the gavel and I would be a million dollars in the hole from not working, driving there, paying a sitter and paying 15 dollars.
To the City of Lafayette, La...Safe Speed Super sucks.
No more Robo-Cops.

ReplyDeleteThat is sooo funny not haha but peculiar, I text my dad YESTERDAY to ask if Everett had cameras at 41st and Colby. I wasn't really speeding but I crossed the intersection and before I got to the other side the light was red, thought for sure I would get a ticket in the mail claiming I had run a red light. BUT lucky me, Everett doesn't have cameras and even if they do they can't use them to give you a ticket. Just another reason you guys need to come home.
